Hi guys

Need a new car and have been looking at the Benz range and have spotted a C250 Turbo diesel sport in my price range. I know nothing about Mercs and was wondering when I go to view it if there are any points I need to look for because I don't want to spend my hard earned crash on a shed.

The car itself is a manual, and I believe it is somewhere between an M reg and P reg as it has a private plate at the moment.

Here is a link to the car in question

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Take a good strong torch, shine all arround the engine, look for oil diesel leaks, these are prone to leaking oil past the manifold seals, and blow it out all arrond the intercooler pipes, feel all under them, see if black with oil !

Also check the plastic fuel pipes, and the black plastic fuel shut off valve under the injection pump.

Take out the dipstick, wipe it on your fingers, then wipe away, if the oil stains your hands, it ain't been changed for a while, the transmission oil you can't check unless you break the dipstick top.

All the above is not expensive to do if you do it yourself !, done all that to mine, now goes like a rocket ! But if you drive it real fast they eat fuel !
The rest is common sense when looking ,have fun Roy
