Morning all
I wonder if anyone can help? I have a 2006 CLS with 18” alloys all round. I’ve got it booked in for wheel refurbishment next week and I need to buy 4 centre caps to replace the current ones which are worn and cracked.
The caps Are 75mm and plain silver with chrome surround and star logo. What I was wondering was if these caps are a universal fitting as I can find ones online for C and E class models but can’t find any specifically for the CLS model!
Any suggestions would be helpful
Thanks in advance.

I've used eBay ones over the years and had no problems with them. They tend to be the same quality as dealership ones (longevity wise anyway) though, as mentioned above, cost substantially less.

I've just bought a set of 4 on ebay for the grand total of £7.99 delivered!
They look every bit as good as the Mercedes ones at a fraction of the price.

Don’t expect them to last very long though, I have had a few of them in the past and was lucky to get 12 months out of them. My current ones are MB and have been on the car for nearly 5 years now and still look good and still no marks or stains on them :)

My previous ML had MB ones that were replaced with eBay caps, they lasted 5 years until I sold the car and were still like new.

I bought ebay ones. They go in but don't fit 100%. If you are fussy you might want to get dealer ones.

I've had them before and they lasted as long as genuine Mercedes ones.

I guess its just the luck or diligence of what you buy.

Some saying good, some saying bad.

An old B-Class.
Like alot of aftermarket chinese tat.
Pay once pay right.

We should start a new thread, about such items.
Back on that old debate.... copies are as good as originals......

We want to drive a posh, expensive German car but when it comes to replacing parts and consumables, cheap knock-offs / low end products (thinking of tyres) are “just as good as the original”. :)

Is it:

a) A true belief that the cheap stuff is as good as more expensive?
b) Having purchased an expensive car, an affordability issue?
c) Being frugal (trying to use a nice word here)?;)

We know all the stories / myths, e.g. "they are all made in the same factory, the dealers are ripping us off".

The dealers price for these little bits of plastic are obscene, thats why someone selling 4 for £7.99 is selling thousands of them.
Market forces and all that.

I’d be very surprised if they are the identical product. I recall buying the chrome trims for the bonnet vents on my SLK and they were double the price of the “cheap version” . When I saw a car with a set of the knock offs, it was obvious why the genuine MB units were more expensive.
