Hey guys new member here,
Have had the car a week and roof has been working without issue, now getting " the Boot separator not shut " msg.
Have looked at the other posts and think the issue is on the left side gas strut.
Not quite sure though what should be clicking where, have attached a photo.
Can't see any brokens bit on the boot floor so not sure why it's suddenly stopped.

Also attached a 2nd pic which shows the piece the should click into the center section, should it look like that ( again no broken pieces anywhere ) ...?

Cheers
Doug

Hello and welcome

The boot separator gets its info from a micro switch in one of the receiving catches (Pax side on my SLK). Make sure the separator is making the switch work, as it is possible to close the separator but not actually make the switch move

Thanks for the info,
So is the micro switch what I photographed in picture 1 or am I looking in completely the wrong area..?

Cheers

The little struts that hold the seperator down often go weak. Even if they are good sometimes a build up of tolerances means the little peg that presses the switch doesn’t do it’s job. I’ve fixed a few by pushing a small offcut of fuel hose over the peg to beef it up a bit.
Pic one looks like the peg is nowhere near the switch. Gas struts worth a good look

Ok so essentially when pulling the separator back it should clip into the switch in Pic 1, making the peg thicker with hose etc.. should ensure a better connection...correct..?

Cheers
