Semi active is usually on estates, and provide self levelling on the rear. The fronts are standard springs/dampers.

Full active is air suspension on all four corners.

I see, are they also known to be troublesome?

Both versions leak when they age, some get issues with lines leaking, sometimes the pumps fail but not unreliable systems.

looking at a 17 plate cls350, I’m hoping that’s not too old to experience issues with the air suspensions if I go ahead and purchase
