Hi,

On a routine trip on the motorway, I suddenly had the message come up.

Collision Prevention Assist Plus inoperative - I could clear it from the steering wheel controls but once the car reaches a certain speed it simply comes back again. I have used my scanner to scan the vehicle to see what the issue is, no error codes.

Is there anything that I can do myself to resolve the issue ?

Thanks in advance.

Just as a FYI. The Attention Assist comes up with the message: System inoperative.

Gave the car a wash today, took it out for a local drive. Was fine for the first 3 minutes and sadly it came back up again.
Only other advice I can give is to charge the main battery . Or have it tested if it's old .

Its the battery that has been in the car from day 1 I guess. The scanner can test the battery in terms of voltage that its holding. Will this suffice ? From what I am reading online, its suggesting sensors.

Try charging batt for a night. See if that changes anything. As often posted benz hate low batts causes many mystery issues
Any of your other error codes ie historic point to low voltage issues?

I scanned the car yesterday looking for the battery voltage, cold start about 11v. After 2 mins of driving it maintained 14v consistently. Do you still think its the battery as I do not want to go and buy a battery charger when thats not the issue. Does anyone know where the sensor might be for this functionality ?

You can normally get a battery test done for free at any local garage

Thanks everyone for the contribution.
I drove yesterday on a 100 mile roundtrip, and it did not come up within the first 5 minutes, usually once I get to 30mph it comes up. I also forgot to mention that the 3 functions were all coming up as inoperable, that is ESP and the 2 others which is kind of weird, especially if they are all being controlled by 3 sperate sensors.

I am happy to report that during the 100 mile trip, no errors.
I have to mention that during the start of the drive, I turned off all the functions as it is rather distracting seeing the messages whilst driving. I did this previously, but yet the messages kept coming up. This time it held up and no messages.

The question is, should I turn them back on ?

Just an aisde. These modules love to ramdonly corrupt their VIN programming, bringing this error up on the dash, and a faukt code "the ViN programmed in the module does not match vehicle".

A software update, reprogram of the ViN usually sorts them,

Where were you when this happened? There are parts of the country that this happens due to external factors like radio telescope signal (they work at the same frequency as MB radars), it happens all the time as I go past Cambridge on the A14 for me, exact position each way, just wait a while and then all is restored once your out of range

^ This. Happens on mine whenever I go anywhere an airport and other installations. There is a list in my handbook of the locations where the system will turn off.
