Hi Guys,

Wondering if any of you know when the next generation CLS is expected?

I know the current model has been face lifted for the 2008 range but when is the next generation due?

Thanks.

Can't believe this.... No one know nothing? Someone on this forum must have some knowledge :confused:

No point asking dealers, they know nothing usually.

I think it is supposed to be presented in late 2010 and for sale in 2011.

Thanks NewMB. So a good couple of year before it becomes available. Hmmmmm

So not a bad time to get one really if one was in the market, prices are fairly cheap on them at the moment.

Depends on how you look at it. On the one side, you get a bargain price on a current model that will remain current for 2-3 year yet, on the other you'll be looking to trade it in just as the new model comes out and dealers are discounting existing stock, depressing used values.

Lovely car.

But then I'm biased. ;)

I think the dates NewMB posted are correct but I can't be sure. I'll be hanging onto ours for as long as possible though, that's for certain.

The new E Class (212) is due out very soon, so I would imagine the CLS wont be long after. 2010 I would think.

Can't imagine why they would be in any hurry to launch a replacement - the CLS is sold on looks alone (as the E-class is better at just about everything at any rational level). And for looks, there is still nothing to compete with it out there, from any manufacturer. I have a feeling that it could run pretty much unchanged for many years yet.....

I don't mind admitting, that the styling is the ONLY reason why I bought my CLS - they are just supremly cool :)

Cheers

I too am that irrational, shallow and predictable. That's just how it is :)

You're right though, no-one's beaten it for looks and style, though Jag's XF and VW's Passat are apeing it. Close, but no cigar. They just haven't got that classy art-deco swage line going like the CLS.

I did catch a glimpse in a magazine of the new CLS on test, y'know one of those pictures where all the panels are disguised. Profile-wise the new one looks very similar and from what I can tell the major cosmetic difference is in the more angular new E-type headlamps. And it probably has a slightly modified boot release catch.

I am delighted with my CLS, very fast, looks amazing, roomy for four adults, huge boot, so well screwed together.............. :)

Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
I just wish they'd stop calling it a "coupe" - it's a sleek saloon car. It's like the new Scirrocco - that's a hatchback and there's nothing else you can call it!

I actually must be alone in not really liking the CLS - I think the back is ugly.. but I know i'm about the only person who thinks that so it must be me...!

Yes I agree - it isn't a coupe. Americans would probably call it a "sedan". (?)

As regards the back, I do think it has slightly too long an overhang but apart from that they've done well there.

Mind you, the CLK isn't too shabby either (we were looking at them before we got the CLS)
