As most of us probably receive the Merecedes customer magazine in the post I was wondering if anyone might have the Spring 2005 copy. I need to get a page copied or if you are done with the magazine the whole thing would be great. Will re-imburse postage if anyone can help.

Thanks.

You've just reminded me - I *don't* get the mag, despite filling in the card that came with the car. :-(

Hi Garry

I am pretty certain I have the Spring edition but I suspect it may be at work and I'm not in my office till next Monday. If you can give me some basic information about the page/advert/information/article you're looking for, I can scan it and email it to you.

It's likely another member can beat my offer and get the information to you sooner. However, I'll monitor this thread and if you get no further replies I'll try and get the info' to you next week. I'll ask for your email address by private message.

REGARDS Phil

Thanks for your offers. I need to get a copy of the story that talks about TMC being activated on the command unit on all new mercs from September 2005. It was not a big article, from memory it covered less than a quarter of one page.

Thanks for your help with this.

Regards
Garry

TMC has been available since the start of the year.

In order to get TMC you will need a new navigation disc.

Unfortunately, the discs aren't cheap (£175 for APS 50 or £220 for COMAND, I think).

I believe you are correct and this is precisley why I need a copy of the magazine article announcing TMC from September 05 on all new cars. We have bought two new mercs in the last month and both have the old version of Command without the TMC.

As Mercedes announced the TMC functionality from September 05 I intend to continue to pursue them for FOC upgrades. So far I have been told by Merc that the Magazine carries a disclaimer. In other words don't believe a word we print?!

If anyone else is in a similar position and wants more info then feel free to get in touch.

Regards
Garry

Have now been advised that TMC navigation discs will only be fitted to A/B/C/CLK/SLK/M-Class cars built from June 2006 onwards.

TMC navigation discs should be fitted to all E/CLS/SL/S-Class cars built from January 2006 onwards.

I would strongly recomend that anyone ordering a car makes it a pre-condition that TMC is included on your version of Command when it arrives or an FOC upgrade is agreed at a later date.

In fact another day, another delay...

TMC will now not be available until mid-February.

if you purchased your car new from septmeber with COMAND and were of the understanding that it would have TMC enabled in the UK! contact daimler chrysler by email from the contact section on www.mercedes-benz.co.uk.

quote that the spring edition of mercedes magazine alerted you and that your dealer was of the understanding that it was supplied.

you need to inform them of your registration number, VIN number, car type and dealer you got it from.

they will then get the dealer you send you a FOC disk when it becomes available! this is what happened to me and i am awaiting the sisk when it comes.

I have the magazine in question and i did the same thing. but you only need to quote the magazine!

my dealer kept activation the TA system when i went back to ask them. this was also mentioned as that was not TMC.

My understanding that TMC would be enabled was based on the magazine article. I just assumed (stupidly) that they would be honourable. I've called and e-mailed merc and have been rudely brushed off. This is why I want a copy of the magazine article. I intend to pursue this matter at different levels within Merc and or daimler Chrysler. A scan, photocopy or original copy of the article will make my fight that bit easier!

Thanks

OK. Here is my exp. so far. I ordered E with Command in Oct 04, came in Feb 05. I was told that the disc will be enabled and in Jan 05, when I was due to get the car delivered, it will be up and running. Year later, it is not.

Rang the 00800 No (Milton Keynes, is it?) abuot two week ago. They said my DVD is already enabled (it is 4.01 I think) and that when the TMC starts, I will be able to receive it without any thing further. Have been checking twice a day, still says No TMC Reception. If I get it, I will post it here!

Well being fobbed off with TA for TMC is taking the biskit (only if I could spell), is n't it? If there is any consolation, I have read one of the threads here where the dealer told some one with SatNav not working (Merc one of course!) that it was because all the satellites were over Iraq. Oh well, for him, geostationary sats changed their design specifications!!

Ver 4.1 is TMC enabled....but not in the UK. Ver 5 is the one with UK spec TMC.

i did understand that they were going to recall the e-class cars that were sold with TMC to update the disk when it becomes availble. dont hold your breath for that tho.

Ver 4.1 can TMC in countires like Germany and Italy.....

Ver 5 also has the latest updated Map from 2004/2005 highways. instead of ver 4.1 2002 map. so some roads not on 4.1 will now be updated.

the problem is, 4.1 is the latest disk and was an upgrade from 4.0 which had a fault. so when you ask for the latest, thats 4.1. what you need to the newest upgraded disk with the new version. or some gibberish.

my dealer told me today that the first batch of the next generation disk was corrupted and needed looking at. they were sent back and they are currently awaiting news of the re-issue.
