Mercedes e350 2011

Hi all I've got a mercedes e350 diesel on a 2011 plate it has been parked up in the garage over winter I cam to start it the car started fine then as soon as I put it in gear it stalled and won't start at all please can anyone help this is what it's saying when I put my code reader on its saying component r48 any ideas thanks all

Hi I have a mercedes e350 diesel it has been parked up in my garage over winter I came to start it and it started fine when I put it into gear it stalled and now I can get it to start I put a code reader onnit and it came up with component r48 fault any ideas thank you

What code reader are you using. I say mice have been at the wiring.

If the temperature sensor in the thermostat has failed the car may not start due to incorrect mixture

Hi thanks for your replies really appreciated I'm using a icar soft cr max code reader the wiring seems fine maybe it could be the sensor where would this be located please does it have a fuse thank you

The temperature sensor is located in the thermostat housing itself so a new thermostat is required I had one replaced at 60k miles due to the thermostat failing open. The sensor relays information to the ECU which in turn sets the fuel mixture according to engine temp. If you do decide to change it my advice is buy the genuine part from MB as I did pattern parts can lead to more problems

They are reasonably accessible at the front of the engine but quite tricky to replace my advice is to use an independent MB specialist.
I think you need to have the car inspected by a trained MB technician before going ahead with any repair from what you’ve described it may be the thermostat/sensor…
