Needing to change this due to car being smoked in by previous owner. Am I right to assume it’s located under the glovebox panel?

Also does anyone know the part number or recommend a link to an aftermarket fitment, as having searched online via reg number the sizes appear to differ significantly.

Hello and welcome

Phone Mercedes Grangemouth (Forum sponsor) and they’ll sell you exactly the right filter - mention the forum and you’ll get a decent discount.

I'm not sure how this will help. The filter is fitted before the smoker ....
EmilysMum's car was previously owned by a smoker and it did take a while for the smell to go .... she used to put cheap fragrant soaps around the car to help mask the smell.

It’s pointless using any enzyme odour eater without removing one of the main sources of the issue, in that the cabin/pollen filter is is harbouring contaminants from when the vehicle was smoked in.

Definitely use the dealer generally they are more competitive than you think, Mercedes Newcastle will post out to you they are on EBay and I use them, alternately MB Grangemouth post out with a forum discount I believe.

Its best to just carry on smoking in the car , but only menthol tabs, lovely and minty after a few lung fulls.

The cabin filter only filters air coming in from the outside of the car.
Go for the latest filters, they are only a little more expensive than the normal ones.

Does the air not pass back through it when chosing recirculating air mode ?

It was located under the passenger side glovebox. 1 x torx screw and 2 clips but managed to snap the middle leg when pulling out. As someone has mentioned Recirculated air does go through it.

Anyhow after locating I pulled it out, sprayed it with ‘Valet Pro Enzyme Odour Eater’ - Highly recommended and excellent stuff (as well as all other carpeted areas and head lining) Let everything totally dry out overnight, refitted the filter and smell of smoke has totally gone.

Makes no sense at all.
The filter is a replacement item not serviceable. If you had it all open why not put in a new filter as per your original post.

Nows where my bucket of soap and water. I am doing an oil change and Want to wash out my oil filter ;)

Why bother with the expense of a crossland.

Some used kitchen roll stuffed in there with a few bbq briquttes for the activated effect is much cheaper
