Hi
I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone could answer a question. What (if any) link is there between this forum and the mbclub.co.uk forum? Are these the same Mercedes club? I have noticed a lot of the member names are the same across the two forums (including my own!)

They both seem very friendly and informative. The main reason I am asking is I am contemplating joining a MB owners club and would like to know the most appropriate one to join. I live in East Central Scotland.

Any explanation and advice would be appreciated. Hope I've not stirred up some inter-club rivalries by asking these questions!!

There is no link or connection between the two sites or forums

Some people belong to both, and others do not, the other forum has a larger social section.

It depends what you want out of a forum, or as in some cases what you want to put into a forum.

There are in fact several owners forums.

This one is the Mercedes Benz Owners association. If you join the MBOA (see here) you will get free access to this forum and 10% of some prices and Mercedes Owners magazine once a month. You get free access by registering but only the public parts.

The MBClub is a forum only, but has just as helpful and friendly members as this, as Malcolm said. It does have a different 'feel' about it which some members on here may not like. But thats works both ways. There is history between the 2 forums, but we won't go there ok! (here). Free access too.

there is also the Mercedes Benz Owners Club. Again a pay club, but it does tend to cater for the older models, but can be just as vaulable to all. (here)

There are a few model specific forums too, such as the g-wagon forum, the 190 forum, smart forum and baby benz forums.

I think someone once set up an A-class forum!

Some dealers carry the magazine for this forum. They are the ones that offer a discount on service.

Generally, we don't tolerate threads or posts about other forums unless they have a positive effect on use members. ie they have been helpful! That way we can all learn and benefit from. The other forums would appreciate it ifyou mention their help on here though! Courtesy and all that.

We also don't tolerate forum wars. If you feel agreived about the use, rules, help on this forum, you will not find a receptive audience on other forums, although you may get sympathy!

There are about 100thousand + Mercedes Owners in the UK at present. The 2 biggest forums have about 20,000 members so there is plenty of room for all of us to get along happily.

Hope that is unbaised and helpful.

I'm on both forums, under different names. I notice the other one has more 'off topic' threads than this one. Perhaps also I could say that I think this forum has more technical threads by a small margin.
Both are useful and interesting.
I haven't got the monthly magazine though - I must dig into that!

Hello David,,Like you I am on both. I think that this one has more technical threads as that is mainly what it consists of.

Trying to fix up a meet here is near impossible but there are many on the other forum.

As for which forum that has the most MB techies thats impossible to say as they do come and go on both.

I think that its fine having the 2,, one thing that I never do is to comment from one to the other

Not so confused now! ;) Thanks to everyone for the replies and explanation.
Was wondering is there a definitive list of regular MBOA meets for prospective new members like myself? I would like to know how many MBOA members meet up regularly in my area before I join the club proper.

try looking at the events!

here

You are already a member of this forum and can turn up. You need to register on the MBCLUB to access their Get Together Page.

the MBOA does not organise any official meetings, but often carries information about official mercedes shows and such like that may be of interest to members.
