Can these fobs be reprogramed to a C180 W202?

looking for a new one!

Hi,
As far as I know they can,t be reprogrammed, and this does seem to be the consensus of opinion of the other forum members.
I have read somewhere that this type of single button remote could be programmed, but this has never been put to the test I can only think that you would have to try to re-synch it and treat it like a new key. It has also been mentioned that once this type of key has been synched (programmed) to a car it cannot be resynched to another car.
I wondered this myself and asked Mercedes and they said "no" the key cannot be re-synched/reprogrammed and would only work on the specific car it was made for, and the only option would be to replace the key at approx. £80-90.
Personnally I would not touch it and I would save my money and get a new one from MB.
Is this wanted as a spare or is your key U/S?

What is wrong with the old key

The keys are fine but the casing for them are damaged inside so i have to use the key to manually open the car. I dropped a key once and the thing wouldn't open the car so i tried to start the car and the immobilzer was in operation, i then pushed the car about 100 yards or so and the car started without using the fob, don't know how it turned the immobilizer off by pushing the car i will never know. I am just manually opening the car at the moment. Just thought there was a way of re-programming these fobs.

Sorry thats impossible as they cant be re programmed they are about £100 only from an MB dealer
