For the past two days I have been trying to create a Mercedes Me account; however keep getting "System Error" messages. Has anyone else had problems with Mercedes Me?

Sorry, you lost me - how do you mean "use a web browser to set up" ? I have been trying to set things up on my computer (Windows 11) using Firefox browser and keep getting the same issues.

May well be at Mercedes end. Often, their systems are down for several days. Perhaps try a different browser in case that makes a difference. Otherwise, give it a few days and then call Mercedes Me customer services.

Thanks, to be honest, it isn't that big a deal, I was only wantiing to "sign up" (aso to speak) because I was led to believe I could do Nav Map Updates from there and wanted to see if that was accurate and what updates were available.

Mercedes me is designed to be used from your mobile phone but Tech support recommend using a PC to set the account up.

If this is the first time and you did not buy the car new from Mercedes, your car may still be assigned to a previous user, in which case you need to visit a dealership with log book and personal ID to have the car registered to you (no charge for this).

You need the Vin number to setup Mercedes Me.

Hope this assists.

@sl500amgsport

Yep and thanks and think I'll forget about it then if it is for use from a mobile phone. You saved me from frustration and wasting time Cheers!

Incidentally, anyone tried the remote parking app, where you can drive the car out of it's parking space using your mobile?

All I knew (or believed) was I could my 2007 Nav Data updated through Mercedes Me, so yep I am geussing that is what was being refered to.

Right now my Nav Maps are so far out of date it isn't funny. Originally I was told I couldn't update the maps beyond 2012 for some reason so was looking at having to replace the factory nav/entertainment unit for a new one (either new Mercedes or After Market Unit) with updated maps etc already installed. That is when this Mercedes Me was suggested for a look.

No you need the newer Command software to update that way (was not available for my 2014 SL500), for 2007 I am guessing it will be DVD based, possibly SD....

That sounds correct to me. The Nav Unit is in the boot so I know I need either the DVD or to download the new maps onto an SD Card. It is a matter of finding the DVD or where to download the maps from. In hindsight, it sounds like the person who suggested this Merc Me may have been confused or misunderstood my needs.

yes, i have it on my e400, what do you want to know ?
Was going to set it up to try, what is the range like, any good if you find yourself boxed in unable to open driver's door?

I have a garage with a drive that leads straight to my back door, thought it would be a good party trick when it is raining if the range is good....

Over the air map updates are a fairly recent thing. My 2018 car doesn't even have that facility. Anything pre 2018 will go “offline” shortly because the car relies in the 3G signal which is being switched off.

You can access the portal on a computer and you don’t need to use a phone app. You may even be able to see the service history of the car, if it’s been done through the dealer network, but I don’t think you will find anything else of use,

Make sure you give them your ViN number so they can look up your car.

Done and cheers.

When I was on their site I saw DVD's for every where in the world except the US .... so am hoping I just missed something.

you have to be within 3 or so meters from the car, as it uses bluetooth (i think) to communicate from your phone to the car, if you go outside of that circle it will warn you on the phone that it has lost contact
