Hello there,
I bought a Mercedes ML270,second hand. And tried to insure it.The Insurance company required a documment for prove of the installed anti-theft alarm.Apparently the car is fitted with such an alarm from the manifacturer, but this info was not sattisfying to the insurerer. Can someone help me with an idea ,how can I get such a documment for the Immobilizer of my car.The alarm is Cat 1 Immobilizer factory fitted .
Thanks

Hi - and welcome to the Forum.

Never heard of such rubbish by an Insurer.!! Have you thought of taking your business elsewhere?

The cat 1 alarm is a standard fitment on the ML and i am surprised the insurance company is not aware of that via their own spec sheet info!.........i have never been asked for proof of fitment on my ML, normally such proof is required when a cat 1 alarm has been an aftermarket fitment to a vehicle when a certificate is then supplied by the installer.

I would ask to speak to a senior person at the insurance company and explain the situation or , get a quote from Norwich Union who i found very good.

Alternatively, get a signed letter from your local MB agent stating that such an alarm is fitted as standard to your ML.

I've just moved my insurance. The new ins co told me that it has a cat 1 alarm - I didn't know.

All I specified was that the car has a factory alarm and immobiliser. (+ tracker) The muppet you're dealing with seems to be under the impression that the alarm is an option - albeit a factory one. Just re-iterate that it's standard fit alarm and immobiliser and that should be it. Insurance companies will have a list of whaty is fitted to what.
Actually my ins co even put some wierd make and model details on my docs (not one I recognised) , presumably whatever MB buy in.

Exactly what happened to me. The Insurance broker entered a code I didn't recognize; took it off a chart.

Hello everybody,
I have Mercedes ML 270 CDI.I experience a weird problem with it.I noticed that the front passenger's floor is soaking wet,and it keeps being wet all the time.I guess I bought the car with this problem(second hand car),but have not been informed about it from the previous owner.I have doubts that the car has been in a flood somehow before I buy it,because later on I noticed some signs of a damp in the cabin.I am confused from where to start to search for a solution.I got suspicion that the water might comes from the cooling system, but the level of the cooling oil in the tank is ok.If anyone has some suggestion,I would be very appreciative to share these oppinions.
Thanks to everyone in advance!!

Mercedes ML270 cdi tracking device

Hello.
I contacted the insurance company Direct Line, and they refused to insure the car against Loss or damage caused by theft or attempted theft, because the car does not have a Tracking device.I know such device is needed if the value of the car is over £40 000,and for certain models. My car's value is under £40 000.Does anyone have had such problems with Insurance company.
To your knowledge again, the car is Mercedes ML 270 CDI,Reg.2002.
Thank you all in advance!!

Rusi, Try Norwich Union, i had my ML insured with them and i didnt have a tracker nor did they insist on one. They also gave me the cheapest quote at the time.
