Mercedes NOX sensors

I have a 2013 Mercedes SL350 bought from a main dealer as a demonstrator and serviced by them until the last one which I had done recently by an independent dealer. Shortly afterwards the EML came on and the independent dealer diagnosed a NOX sensor problem but said the part is 'coded to the car' and can only be replaced by a main dealer. Can this be true ? Surely it must be a restraint of trade to prevent other workshops from working on Mercedes cars like this.

Near to Preston. The independent dealer has been around for a long time and is well recommended. It seems odd that they can't replace it.

Some indys but not all have access to online coding. It will depend on the indy.

I live in Manchester and I had to get a abs pump coded to the car and my Indy got someone in to do it

I know of some that gave it but all are 'darn sarf'...

DAS-AUTOMOTIVE did my nox sensors and they have star but they are in bolton.

they fitted a hidden make the EML come on software feature.. do the research on USA forums that share the TIPS documents

to remove it you need to flash the module with an update that doesn't have the EML speciality … however to run the later software successfully you need the updated NOX sensors to go with the software.

if you have full dealer service history and a decent dealer you may get it sorted for free, if no history you may need to prepare documentation and visit your local court or hand over 3k
