Hi all,
My radio works but the CD does not,the radio is fien, someone offered to fit a new non MB radio but it meant I would lose the steering column volume controls so I swerved it.
Any ideas for repair or a cheap new one?

Why not ask a repair man to fix it, a better option, many ICE firms have a service department

Im in the same boat - my MB Audio 10 is playing up. The CD will play for approx 35 mins then I get the CD error message and it wont play again until I stop the car for over 30 mins !!

MB quoted me £288 for a new one (this for a very basic radio/CD) plus £118 to fit - add in the VAT and were talking £470 !!!

A trip to Halfords for a decent replacement raised a couple of issues :

1. A standard radio/CD player will not fit in the space and some sort of kit to make it fit in the dashboard is required at approx £12
2. It is not possible to use the steering wheel functions for volume and change track/station as it requires a bespoke connector which is not available on the market

Is my choice either dig deep for the MB option, or get a replacement but lose the steering wheel controls ??

Does anyone know if theres a workaround for this, or if MB sell this connector seperately ???

Thanks in advance

There are no alternatives to MB kit if you want wheel controls and dash display. Some manufacturers make adapters for MB cars but how much functionality this gives I don't know. However, as Malcolm says, you could get yours fixed very easily. Or, as its the base radio and many swap out for command or the audio 30 (satnav unit), you could either follow their lead, or buy their discarded units off ebay. Or ring Mercman and Dronsfields - they probably have a shelf full of them.

Im not sure either.

I still cant get my radio unit out - Ive read somewhere that you need some flat keys to do this - anyone know where you get these keys ??
