Hello

I've just finished an hour's worth of work fitting the new bars to my 04 E Class estate. All good fun. At first it looks simple but a couple of points may be useful to anyone else embarking on this voyage of discovery.

The bars are slightly different in length so check on each one's underside to see if it's F or R. These little diagrams also show where to position them.

Watch out when you slacken off the rubber jaw clamp adjustment socket. I thought the bar might fit without altering the 2 clamp screws referred to in the instructions - which of course we all read....so I undid the adjuster socket and kept on undoing it. Mistake! The socket headed adjustment screw came out of the circular bar in the innards of the roofbar with the result that the adjustment simply ended. I had to dis-assemble the bar to restart the adjustment screw.

I think the trick is to use the 2 clamp screws to extend the bar's length and do this first. Then use the clamp adjusters to do what I suppose they're there for - clamping.

Anyway, it's sunny out and the bars are really smart - a sort of brushed alloy finish which matches my silver car just great.

Cheers to all, Russ.
