mercedes s320 cdi (w220) cluster not working

hi everyone im new on the forum. i have a problem my speedo is not working but upon starting the car the lights come on and go off but the speedo dnt work at all its completly dead....

can anyone help

This is a very common fault on the S220, some of these cars were recalled to have the speedo/inst. cluster updated due to a software problem, you could check with your Mb dealer if yours is one of the cars affected..

how is this done because my main dealers is at stratford london but they are very ignorent, and i have had several issues with them, also if i did replace the hole speedo with that solve the problem?

From memory to replace the speedo costs in the region of £1000, The new speedo has to be set up on a star disgnostic machine... If you are having problems with a dealer try speaking to another dealer, MB dealers were never known for their customer service, they could take a few lessons from any Lexus dealership on how to deal properly and politely with their most valuable asset.. the customer.. ..Also try checking on the VOSPA website the chassis numbers should be on there of the recalled vehicles..

There is a company in the UK that fixes these clusters now, there have ben a few mods over the years on this.



I love one fault listed, "road speed indicates the wrong speed"

reason,,a diesel cluster fitted by mistake, I wonder how many got fined
