Mercedes SL R230 SL350 boot interior corner panel A2306930242 - SOLVED

This has come loose, and after trying to slot it back in place in a variety of ways I cannot get it to lock back in place.

There is a spring which you can see at the top of the photo, there are two "lugs" at the other end that are supposed to slot in behind something, and there is a lip on the reverse side of this photo.

All of those seem to suggest that this item should fit with the right side of the part as shown in the photo uppermost in the boot corner.

Perhaps there is something that has broken off in the boot so that it can no longer slot and lock into place.

Any suggestions?

Lugs and lip are visible in this photo. They just do not seem to lock into place.

Its very common for the spring clip to break and yes it fits on the right side of the boot behind the drivers tail light

From the pics it looks like the botton part with the two lugs need to be inserted first with the two lugs going behind an aceepting panel then the top bit should just push and then literally click into place.

Make sure the upper clip hasnt been bent in the past and its receiving slot is in place.

Cant imagine them to bee too expensive from MB if some of the lugs, clip are damaged

Hi Raj, Mioba, thanks for your replies.

The part is not broken, but does not just clip into place. I could buy a new one but be in the same situation.

It looks like the clips, lugs and lips should all sit against the carpeted part of the boot and as you say, "they should just click into place", but they do not.

The part looks broken or on its way to be broken, the tab should stick out more.

Thanks Star, none of the photos above are of the part on my car, but I have been and had a look and yes, indeed the part is broken. The clip in my first pic is just what mine looks like. Broken.

I am effecting a makeshift fix by gluing some new tabs to the trim to hold it in place.
