Hi Guys

When were the various facelifts for this? I think the newer command was 2004 but was there another in 2007?

Also is the only difference between the 350 and the 500 the engine?

Thanks

Keith

Car first changed in 06-06 with new grill and other odds and ends,,new engine with increased output for both models.

Mods 2003 change to MOST bus
Widescreen NAV 04
Wheels 17" as standard, 18"s optional, 2004 18" standard, then 2006 19" standard

Thanks Malcolm

What is MOST bus?

Been having no end of bother with the BMW 645. It was in the dealer for weeks on end earlier in the year, really rough and horrendous vibration. They replaced all sorts of coils, engine parts, mass air flow sensors and all sorts. Still not running right. Then they had it in for a service and replaced some suspension parts under warranty and when it was in at another garage for the MOT they noticed the suspension has not been put back together properly and was all loose. That has been fixed and now the gearbox is playing up. Seriously fed up with the car.

Sadly it has lost a lot of money, as has everything just now. Am thinking of trading it for a R230 SL or possibly one of the last CL's, such as a 2006 CL500 - cracking value for money. Also though of an new model XK8 but the interior feels cheap.

Are the R230 SL's reliable and sturdy? Still have the R129 and it is running amazingly!! :)

Well if you are thinking about the 230,,make sure that the struts are not leaking and that the roof does not leak, they are quite tuff and very nice to drive in, there are no other general fault more than any other car.
The MOST bus replaced the fiber optic ring in the Comand and audio circuits.

The engine is bullet proof as always,if you do think about one I can give the the basic and extra spec. I have every known option and love most of them

My natural leaning would be a 500 but maybe a newer 350 would be better for the same money? I am not wanting to spend silly money at the moment because of the way the economy is. Not fussed about running costs though.

How old is your one Malcolm?

Have seen some SL55's at main dealers under £30k now - good value for money and cant seem them depreciating as much as the others.

What do you think about the last of the previous shape CL500's ? 2006 cars

The new SL 350 06-06 on has almost the same performance as the 500cc 113 engine in mine, so that does become a serious contender ater that date.

The CL has always been one of my dream cars,,do remember that they are no use in a Tesco car park as the doors are very wide and you would not get out of it,,but they are so nice.

AMG's are expensive on service and brakes also fuel,,I cant use the power from my early 500 that I have owned for 2½ years now, and I do not hang around as you can see in the picture

I was looking at a Porsche 911 earlier but it seemed quite basic, I like some luxury and both the SL and the CL look good value/luxurious just now

Just been to local dealer used car event and had a look at lots of machines. Very nice 2006 E63 AMG estate for £32000 but 50k miles.

Also looked at CLS55 Amg but not sure about the shape. The SL's they had very basic and bad colours. No CL's either.

Cant help but think the CL is the best value for money but worry it looks dated

Stunning value for money but the BMW 645 seems so much more modern. Almost feel the same about the R230 Sl as well. Am bit confused what to do

I do not like the squarish front on the new SL it does not go with the rounded sides,,it will be interesting to see what the new one will look like due in2011

I am thinking the CL is the sensible choice and will then maybe treat myself to something more outrageous once this damn credit crunch is over.

Anything to look out for on them? I would be getting a 2005/06 from a main dealer

No rust problems on an 05-6 car,, just look under each strut to check for leaks,, other than that its drive and see

I think silver is the colour for one and the CL500 would suffice. Would not rule out a CL55 or CL600 if the right one was about.

Quite fancy comfort seas though
