Good morning after selling my last MB a 450 SLC,I have just bought a 2000 SLK As usual there are jobs to do on it,but overall it`s in nice condition. There are the usual small sections of lacquer flaking off and someone has had a poor attempt at respraying the boot lid.The is a main problem, and it was there when the previous owner bought the car 5 years ago .When the roof is operated to open it,you have to give it a couple of thumps where the top of the drivers side window sits .Its as though a relay or catch hasn`t fully opened, but it would drive me mad to have to do something that shouldn`t be required .So any help would be very welcome

It’s more than likely a problem with cable adjustment to the locking pawl on the hinge that is just by your right ear when you are sitting in the drivers seat. The headliner needs to come down, very easy, just a few screws. You’ll then see the workings. Cable adjustment is near the front of the roof. You’ll see it’s just a clip to pull and refit a couple of indents on.

Open it halfway and stop. There are screws along the front and the back, possibly a couple each side, can’t be sure without looking.
