Has anyone thinned the Clearcoat, its gone or was too thick!

Can I use cellulose thinners?

Yonks ago I used cellulose thinners and it worked perfectly - but with new water based paint etc. Who knows?

The little bottle says Iridium Silver 10/14 so I guess thats 2014.

Appreciate replies from someone, who definitely knows or has done it. I have a couple of stone chips on the alloy wheels so want to seal those before the paint blows.
Really dont want to find it won’t set off fully hard, or reacts with the silver in a bad way.

Is it worth banging off an email to the manufacturer?

Or just buy more rather than muck about!
Definitely would do, except I want to get the wheel back on. And spent some time cleaning it - on the inside as well.
Unfortuneately they didnt paint the inside with silver and then clear coat. Its a sort of silver powder coat so stuff adhere to it pretty well.
Good lesson - always ask for the same external finish on the inside for easy cleaning.

That would be Mercedes … hmm be days before I got a meaningful answer.
need to get the wheel back on.
Tried a bit and it seems to have set off. After an half an hour one can wipe over it, no marks, but heavy pressure leaves a finger print. So I am going to risk it.
worse case I will have to wipe it off with isopropyl or sand with 1200 grit and buy new stuff. Pretty fiddly to sand a 4mm stone chip.
at best it should stop water ingress and “travelling”
