Hello was looking for some guidance, please.

Engine light recently come on. Unfortunately I had to keep running the car (~800 miles since light came on).
Car is running great....no limp mode, no smoke, revs ok, good acceleration, excellent MPG etc.
Fault is coming up as:

P054615 - (current and stored) The exhaust system temp sensor 1 (cylinder bank 1) has a short circuit to battery (+).
A short circuit to battery (+) or an open circuit exists.

Didn't get the number - (Stored) The exhaust system temp sensor 1 (cylinder bank 1) is faulty. The signal change rate
is above the permissible limit value.

Can anyone please tell me which sensor I need and the location? Have had a good search but can't find a definitive answer.

You may be lucky in that there is only 1. If 2 then less easy to know unless the diagnostics gives a reference.
You should see how many here,

They are always numbered in the direction of flow. So for exhaust, 1 is nearest engine, index increases as you go to tailpipe.
On the intake 1 is nearest air inlet, index increases as you get nearer the engine.

I believe that is the temp sensor that is bolted into the exhaust manifold.

If you have a good OBD reader you should be able to see the actual temperatures the sensor is showing. With the engine cold and not running it should show the same temperature as the ambient temperature.
When the engine is running it should shoot up to well over 100deg C.

I had this sensor fail on my W204 C220 cdi a few years ago. From memory it constantly showed about 250deg C.
I replaced it and all has been fine since.
I wrote it up on this site.

If you are uncertain if a sensor you have found is the correct one, unplug it, run the car and then read the fault codes again. This helps identify what you’ve unplugged
