mercedes w205 ecu damaged

Hi i Have just purchased a c220amg with a burnt engine loom and it has scorched the ecu numbers from the top of the ecu, i would like to replace the ecu and have it cloned to another ecu, is there any way i can find out what numbers i would need to match the ecu, the mercedes dealership close to me don't want to give out the info i need as they want to sell me a new virgin unit.
any help on how i can find the relevant information would be appreciated, thanks.

Do you know someone that can virginise the ECU? If not then they are right you can’t clone over an existing unit

Hi yes i think so, guy said he can do it, but i need to know the part number of my original ecu, i.e. my software and hardware i think, so i can buy a matching ecu to swop over my details.

Hi thanks for helping me with that, your a star, i take it those numbered ecus will be all i need to match, i thought you had to get the correct sw and hw version, i will google and see if those ecu all have the same version numbers of hardware and software among the 4 that would give me peace of mind before buying one, thank you.

Look at the online parts sites like mb teile katakog. the ecu part no. will depend on the options on your car.

I have yet to try the site that gives you the car specifications if you type in the whole of the chassis number.
Include that in your resaerch. Thanks.

Hi i searched on the site with the full vin, this is maybe why it only showed 2 ecu for the car ?
