Mercedes Warranty

If I purchase a vehicle in Germany without a European warranty can I then purchase one at the dealers? Or can I purchase a european insurance? What do these cover?

If the vehicle has no manufacturer warranty remaining then go to option 1 if you have manufacturer warranty remaining go to option 2:

1. If the Mercedes-Benz you buy is a european specification vehicle then you can walk in to your local Mercedes-Benz retailer and purchase an approved used Mercedes-Benz warranty. I believe they call it Sale at Service, it will be an insured warranty but it is a Mercedes-Benz warranty.

You car will have to have a check over by the workshop and any faults found must be repaired before they will apply the warranty.

2. Go to your local Mercedes-Benz retailer and ask them for the phone number for approved used warranty sales. Give them a call and they will give you a quote to buy your warranty cover. I think they can do it all over the phone and by email/snail mail.

One piece of advice, don't go for another make of warranty. I did and regretted it, the book looked like it covered everything until you tried to claim it. Manufacturer own warranties are a safe bet and if you have the warranty and a part isn't covered you can ask for goodwill.

The car I am interested in has a 12 month warranty on it but not sure if it is a garage warranty (its not a mercedes dealer) or a mercedes warranty. I am concerned as if its not a mercedes warranty I want to buy one.

It won't be a Mercedes-Benz warranty, you can't get them from any other dealers. See what level of cover the warranty gives you and if it's rubbish buy a genuine Mercedes-Benz one from a Mercedes-Benz dealer.
