Has anyone done the AMG Experience at Mercedes World. Prices from £170 per hour but I think you can not choose the model?

Been there but not on the AMG experience, took an SL500 out instead, that was enough to make me appreciate what it could do, it cost 30 mins for £85.00.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Won the prize draw to go out with the Silver Arrows display team last year when I visited. Quite an experience :D. Four cars on the skid pan at the same time at one point, all seemingly going in different directions.

Yes, did the MB World thing a few weeks ago, just before all this weather.
Well worth going and enough to keep any MB nut happy for several hours!!

I was taken by my friends for my 40th.

Drove an SL55 AMG, E55 AMG & C55 AMG. From memory I did several things with the car: skid pan, slalom, accelerate/hard braking, driving on test track.

I liked it so much and was so impressed with the AMG cars I ended up buying one!

Trust me I am not easily pleased but I would recommend Mercedes World to everyone interested in cars. The museum is great and the restaurant is also very good.

Sounds great, but I'm a bit shocked that they charge for the AMG experience, let alone the privilege to drive an 500. After all, you can call into a showroom and take one out for nothing.
I did a similar thing with Landrover. Skid pan, off road, racetrack etc in a RR sport and Vogue and that was free with a free 5 star lunch thrown in. Ok, invite only admittedly, but it's the principle.
At the end of the day you're paying for them to promote their products to you. I certainly wouldn't be paying over £100 for the privilege of driving an AMG (you can hire a light aircraft and instructor for that!)

I did the AMG experience a couple of years ago and it was brilliant, they rang me up a week before hand with a choice of car, I wanted a CLS63, but that was already booked, so I went mad in an S65!!
I have been there just for a look around a couple of times since and there is always somehing new there to look at. Well worth a look in my opinion.

it's a shame but I tried to book it for a S Class AMG and was told that they stopped running them on the AMG experience. was offered S500 at same price! Still I have some time off work in March so will book the hour AMG and see what is available them.

I'd be happy to take you for a whoosh round the Cotswolds in the SL500. :);):) No charge, just bring a clean pair. An altogether different "AMG" experience.

Was thinking of going to MB world for my Birthday at the end of the month.

Has anybody taken children with them (I have 5 yr and 2 yr old boys) and if so was there enough to keep them occupied for a few hours. Is the restaurant child friendly?

I'm hoping SWMBO will book me a driving experience for when we are there. The £85 1/2 hour (non-AMG) driving experience is probably the most realistic option. Anybody recommend this?
Would you recommned going for a car similar to that you own (E320 cdi in my case) to learn how to get the best out of the car and behaviour in extreme circumstances or do you think I should take the opportunity to experience something a bit different such as an SL?

BarnDoor you will have a great time. I did the driving experience a few weeks ago when they had an offer on, it was £10 for 15 mins in an AMG. I was driven round by one of their drivers Tiffany Chittenden. Great fun still makes me smile thinking about it. They have a place for kids to play but it cost and they will more fun pulling and pushing all the buttons on those new Mercedes. Enjoy.

Thanks Tromppost.

That does it I'll get the wife to book it. Looks like a trip to the florists on the way home to earn some brownie points. Any thoughts on what (non-AMG) car to ask for?

Was tempted to do the AMG passenger ride as well. If I go for an S-Class can the whole family come as well!

Was the £10 offer a one off or is there somewhere I can get a voucher from?

Cheers,
Mark

I was looking at the MB World website last night and they will be showing various F1 Grands Prix over the season on big screens there! They include (from memory) Monaco, Spa, British, Valencia. I will definately be there for at least a couple of them.:p

Be aware that the restaurant on the top floor is closed until the end of May for expansion. Sadly they have dropped the creche to make room, much to my son's disgust!! The cafe downstairs does a fair organic burger, but it is quite crowded as it is the only food outlet for the moment.

Do ask if you can choose your driver, Tiffany Chittenden was so much fun and a brilliant driver.
