the site is up and running as from today,

seems to be very few parts available, no doubt this will soon grow quickly as people ask for certain parts.
They also seem very cheap c.f to stealers prices.....

maybe we should ask for further discount for MBOA members :D

Thanks for this - Inchape own my local dealer, I wonder if I could pre-buy all the parts needed for service and turn up with them :) . I already supply my own oil.

I've been using the site for the last week, trying to cross compare prices on the website with prices at the Düsseldorf dealership. In order to use the site, you need to know the EXACT part number, forget the pulldown menu's.

Düsseldorf dealership is a little cheaper, but thats probably down to exchange rate, so looks a good site for getting original parts. Make sure you have a hefty order though, as they charge 7.50 pounds for delivery.

Guys

I did a test.

Fast moving items like pads and discs attracted a 20% discount on base prices , which is good, then + VAT which is OK.

I compiled a list of items I had actually purchased BUT on the front suspension control arm, which I guess had to be ordered, the special price was the list price with NO discount, on a £200+ item. That is just when you need the discount.

I had a great discount from my local dealer on that item.

So it is not "plain sailing".

It was however interesting to see that ALL my items would have still been just £7-50p for delivery and they were very heavy. I wonder !!!!!!

Regards

Düsseldorf dealership isnt online, you have to call/fax (or call in) for parts/quotes, unfortunately.

The weblink is: http://www.rhein-ruhr.mercedes-benz...ars/home/about_us/location/location.5141.html

Phone: 00-49-211-4401 (short number, as many companies over here buy whole tel number blocks)
Fax: 00-49-211-4401-814

At the moment in Germany, VAT is 16%, but, just announced during the football ceremonies, there hiking it upto 19%, so bang goes any price advantage.

Ive costed the entire exhaust system (on my ML) between the two companies, and the difference (worked back into pounds) is:
Mercedes-Benz-Parts = 1,748.21
Düsseldorf = 1,516.30
Difference = 231.91

I'm a bit confused you say there is not much saving buying in Germany.The MB pricelist that is bundled with the EPC cd is quite a bit cheaper than UK list.(all prices pre-tax)
Re-vat, if your Vat registered you give the German dealer your number and they ship Vat free.
I agree on most non-service items the site just gives Uk list prices...what's the point of that when you can get a discount from your local dealer ?
On things like oil filters they are cheap but again the exact same item (made by Mann) can be bought from the likes of GSF,ECP etc.

good saving!!!

just thought i would also point out there is a seller on ebay, username "euromerc", he sells genuine parts and provides the part numbers, so you can check how cheap his parts really are. I have found them to be very cheap almost half price. I havent used him so cant comment on his service! but you may find it useful

For ex-vat prices, the difference between the two locations is even less. From what I understand, there was a price hike in Germany at the beginning of this year. The Düsseldorf dealership isnt offering me any discount as perhaps I dont visit them enough :rolleyes:

If you look at www.ebay.de (its in German though, so use babelfish.altavista.com/tr), the Germans are even cheaper. Big ticket items seem to be on there, such as Turbo's, body parts etc, even an V8 500 engine, new(or recond) at 4500 euro!

Agree with you entirely, I have used ebay germany a few times and it is very cheap for car parts, There is a hell of alot of MB parts on there.
