Hmmmm, good luck with that one. Best try it on someone else's car first, preferably someone you don't know....

If at all, that will only work on dents which you could just as easily push out by hand without the risk of damaging your paint with the temperature shock.

I like the bit at the end "My big dent dissapear", shame the little Tesco kiss next to it didn't.

Hmm, I think there might be a lot of smoke and mirrors with that one...

Wouldn't surprise me if someone pushed that out from behind at the 'right' moment, just for effect...

I think there is a lot to be said for that method as the thermal forces acting on the depression would be a lot more uniform than any force applied from behind the dent, if in fact access could be achieved to the back of the dent.

If only it was as effective as shown, that would mean no one will need to go to the bodyshop for dents. i think it might be effective for easy pull out dents and not for thick more tedious dents. If anyone tried this, can they let everyone know how it went?

This is a little known but well proven method of dent removal, its only drawback was the ability to freeze the panel.. basically heating the panel softens the metal and expands it, the freezing effect reverses that process and restores the panel to its original shape..

....and I'm afraid another one is that it only works on panels that have 'sprung' - that is deformed elastically. If the dent has resulted in plastic deformation of the panel the process may improve the appearance, but an 'invisible' restoration will be impossible. Note that the small and obviously plastically deformed ding towards the edge of the treated panel in the clip is totally unaffected by the process.

I absolutely agree with you antijam, it will only take out soft sprung dents and not those on ridges or hard creased dents.. but the process itself whereby you heat up a dent until it is cherry hot and then freeze with dry ice will remove dents completely.. tho this does mean that the paint is a goner..

so either way its useless as a bodyshop would take a dent out and have to respray the panel anyway

Yes basically that is true..but if you had a classic car and didnt want filler on the panels then it would be the process to use..tho finding someone who does it would pose a bit of a problem... tho there again the modern dent guys (PDR) are working wonders these days

I have used this method before when restoring a car. and it worked well

Although it was a Delorean, so Stainless steel and no paint, I would not want to try it on a painted panel.
