Hi,

Recently needed 2 new fron tyres for the front of the E350 Cdi coupe. Replaced 18" Michelin Rainsport 3's with Michelin PilotSport 4's. Don't know if it's just my imagination, but they feel so much harder than the previous tyres. It's like I've gone up a wheel size.

Had to replace one of the rears today (puncture) and wanted to go with GY Assy 5's as that is what is on the other rear. But due to my poor eyesight (it's not bad but I must have misread the size) the tyre they ordered was the wrong size. The only one they had at he correct size was......... you guessed it a PilotSport 4.

So I now have 3 x Pilotsport and 1 x Assy 5.

I'll change the GY Assy in a couple of months to a PilotSport 4, but wondered if anyone had noticed a harsher ride from the PilotSport 4?

Tyre pressures are the same as before.

Steve

I friend of mine has them on his M240i and yes you are correct they’re a lot firmer than some other similar tyres.
This isn’t just that particular car on his Kia proceed GT he had briefly also had pilot sport 4’s which again very firm and they don’t last that long.

Thanks for that, not just me then, Think I might have a little play with pressures and see if that helps :)

W213 E400d-T, W204 C250CDI-T, W220 S320CDI (AMG Kit), W168 A170CDI, W210&W124 OM606...
Great all-round performance but poor wear (which is the trade off for grip). Had them on the front and rear of our W220 S class and my w204 C class. Unfortunately i couldn't justify the 25% price premium over the Goodyear Ays' 3's which are now on the W204, and perform almost as well (slightly less wet traction, but thats all i can tell is different). I do think the goodyears are actually a harder ride than the PS4s were though.
The Pilot Super Sports which i had before were better suited to the front than the PS4s or Ays 3's. Haven't tried the Ays 5s yet though.
