Mileage is recorded in more than one module, so stopping the miles increasing in the dash doesn’t stop it elsewhere… ask @alexanderfoti about it… his S65 had been “mileage corrected” before he bought it

Yes, I thought one (or maybe more on the S Class) of the ECU/s recorded mileage.

I don't know is the straightforward reply.

Until you get that ECU/s interrogated how would you know if the previous owner hadn't been running around with one of these devices.

I remember looking at a pile of bills for a suspicious mileage car and seeing what I could only describe as very bad luck with their tyres involving a few sets beyond what one would expect.

In those days it was more an inspection of the dash surrounds to start with.

Now you have to look much deeper.

Mot history usually paints a pretty clear picture, and prompts further investigation.

If they ran around with one of those it wouldn't show up on the M.O.T history.

The fact that it's done 300-400 miles a year for 6+ years is usually what shows up
But bought two sets of tyres.

There was a car, a tired ex-executive travel, airport runs etc for sale near us with an alleged 10,000 per annum.
Yet somehow they found the need and the money to buy a new car.

Must have been charging a hell of a price for the 175 miles a week they had recorded.

Great to see forum members come out against Tools created to deceive or break the law. When looking for a car earlier this year I did get some check results where the MoT showed that the mileage had gone down. its A shame that these are created but it doesn’t surprise me.

I just dont understand that. Dont MOT testers have some duty to report such things.

Clocking (reducing mileage) or these mile blockers are for only thieves.

Looking at the website it appears this isn't a UK product, which would quite rightly be removed from sale pretty swiftly if advertised here.
Just another way for the unscrupulous to try to con the public with faulty mileage cars. I hope they go bust.

I see all sorts of people wanting the ability to keep the recorded mileage down, it's nothing new and cars were regularly "clocked" and probably still are.

A "correction" before your M.O.T and or service and your away.

You can study that paperwork till you go dizzy.

Some will think it's only the lease/finance company etc.

There was quite a business in hiring out your Motability car for taxi operators.

How is a tester supposed to know you have had the mileage "corrected" in one way or another.
