Over the week end I fitted W208 indicators to the mirrors on my late 129 SL320, this mod can be done on early CLK,and SLK.

This mod is for SL's with the round mirrors 1998> They look good and bring the car up to date. The cost for parts is around £220 and should not take more than 1 day if I told you how to do it. I will put photo's up this week.
If you are interested let me know.

We have a 1998 SLK so would your "mod" work for our car, do you have part numbers for the parts required?

these mirror covers are from the clk 208, 2000> oct 2003 they are the same a
as the SLK old model. They come painted. the best updating mod that I have done

MA208 810 03 64 97followed by the paint code ie silver=44 Cover/panelling
MA208 810 04 64 97 " " " " " " "
MA170 820 17 21 Blinker lamp
MA170 820 17 21 " " "

This will involve taking off the door trim panels, feeding a twin cable through the trunking, taking off the foot well sides and removing the instrument cluster and joining the cables to the dash blinkers, not for the light hearted.

It took me 20 hours on my SL as I could not, working out where to wire them to. the next one I could do in 6 hours. Though at least 20 people have done this on a SL no one would tell me how they did it. I even got the wrong info and that slowed me down

Start by removing the top triangle trim by levering out top, take out the 3 screws and unplug the electrics.Mirror off the car, press the glass in at bottom, you will see wire clip at the top,un hook it and the glass comes out, undo 3 screws (torx) holding motor(note which way is the top),unplug electrics, undo the 3 torx screws holding front and back and the cover will come off. You have to saw 18mm off the end of the black frame ( the end with the hole in it) fit the new covers over the frame and solder 2 short wires 15cm to the blinkers, make a hole in the rubber and push wires through, screw on front, you will need one more small self tapping screw the same size. refit motor and fit to car, there is room to use a small terminal block to join the wires if you get stuck please ask. The blinkers have no polarity

I have a 9 month old SLK (new shape) and some kind soul  has bashed the door mirror and cracked the clear perspex cover to the indicator LEDs. The rest of the mirror is OK.

I can get a replacement part from Mercedes for around £19 + VAT but does anyone know if this is an easy DIY project? Does the perspex just clip off? I don't really want to start taking off door panels, etc myself.

You can take the mirror off as other post above, cover is screwed on to the front and the indicator is screwed to the cover, just follow my other posting.

The mirrors that I gave details of will not fit.
What you can do is to look for the facelift version of your's, 2000 on that has them and order the covers and indicators for that car, though they may look the same, the area to check is where the mirror joins to the door.
I went to a MB showroom and measured all the mirror's and found that the 99 CLK/SLK were the same shape as mine, hope this helps.

Thanks Malcolm.....

I looked through the Euro parts book and on pg 48 they sell them for the W202 a mirror cover with repeater's from £20, but it's chrome..yuk!
I take it if these did fit I'd need to feed the wiring down the door channel to join the the side repeater on the wing's, or wherever it goes behind the dash.
