misfire on c200-1997?-any ideas?

the car is a c200 1997-

recently i noticed that when i start it from cold,it will misfire and stall.

then, i can start her up on the next attempt.

only happens when it is cold.

any ideas what i should be looking at?

I had this a couple of weeks ago,starting fom cold it was very rough,didn't want to tick over properly and even stalled on a couple of occasions when pulling away,but was ok when warm,Solution for me was too charge the battery and it has been fine since.

thanks for the response.

it only stalls from a cold start on an intermittent basis-not every time-never when pulling away.

the battery is the original bosch one which came with the car from new.-7yrs old..

my thoughts are fuel contamination with water.

my gut reaction tells me this should resolve in time.
