ML 270 Alarm problem

I own a 2002 Mercedes ML270.

I am not getting all three flashes when I activate my alarm. But when I deactivate, I still get the one flash to let me know my car is unlocked.

The alarm works, but with out the flashes, I find myself continuously trying my locks to ensure it has worked. Which is becoming a pain.

Can anybody offer any advice or assist?

Thank you for your time.

You could try 're-syncing' the fob to the car........instructions are in your handbook under 'changing the fob batteries'.

Dont know if this helps but i've just tried locking my 2002 ML using the fob and with one of the doors left only on its '1st' latch and the car locks up ok but i didnt get the 3 flashes i then got a single flash on unlocking.........i got the same result with the tailgate only on its first latch......so maybe the problem is that one of your doors isnt fully closing/locking........

Try pushing down all the door locking tabs from inside the car and then use the fob to lock the car whilst you are inside.........if the indicators then flash 3 times that would indicate a previous door lock fault.

Do you get any noise from the siren when setting the alarm?

Did you try locking the car from inside (as above)?

It could still be the tailgate lock that is causing the problem...............try the same again but (from inside the car) manually firmly lock the TAILGATE using the sliding lock and then see if you get the 3 flashes.

Well, one last shot...............i just pulled the bonnet release and confirmed that the bonnet IS connected to the alarm system (no sign of wires or pressure switch).............no flashes !....

Try putting downward pressure on the bonnet to ensure it's firmly closed while at the same time operating the fob.........

You can confirm operation of the bonnet sensor/switch by using the fob to lock yourself in the car and then pulling the bonnet release lever......the alarm should sound!. ........(i just tried it on mine!)

Sorry you had no success........looks like a trip to the dealers though i do suspect that it is a 'lock' related problem.

Please let us know what the solution turns out to be.

ps........Just try releasing the bonnet whilst you are locked inside the car to see if the alarm sounds (same applies to each door and the tailgate)....it would confirm that all is well in that area.

This is all Ive found so far, sounds to me like a door isnt locking correctly, there are micro switches within the locking mechs it could be one or several that have failed. Will keep digging.
