ML 270 auto jumped out of gear

Evening all
I funny thing happend this evening when I was on my way to work I pulled away from the lights over taking a van in the nearside lane
I got to about 45mph when the motor jumped out of gear are it felt like it did
I had to drop back behind the van and pull over, there was no drive the drive came back before I stop,
I drove on as normal stopped 1 mile on and floored it back up to 60 mph and seem ok now
Could anyone shed any light on this situation

PS I was using low range this weekend so it may not have engaged back into high range properly
