Our beloved ML recently failed its MOT due to corroded front to rear brake brake lines. The trusted independent garage that we use has quoted just over 1k +vat (inc 10 hours labour) to replace them which seems a bit excessive to me ? so I have 2 questions really...
1. Is this a fair price for a technically challenging job ?
2. could they be replaced more economically by running them on an alternative more accessible route ?
Thanks

Sounds very steep to me, brake lines are not that challenging for a diy-er but it will of course depend on how accessible or otherwise the pipe runs are.

Pipe and fittings are pretty cheap and you’ll want to replace all the flexies while you’re there. £100 for the bits? So an awful lot on labour.

Check out this kit on eBay if you fancy getting the spanners out. Item no 395265789193

Pipe runs can go anywhere I guess but probably best to replace like-for-like.

Or you could get another quote maybe!
