Yesterday - running well. This morning all dash lights stay on, turning over on starter fine, but will not start. Hoping something simple I'm missing Any suggestions please? I am too old for under car/bonnet gymnastics. Can't even drive it to garage.

Could do with checking fuel pressure.
I had issue with the fuel pump and bought a recon kit.

Have you been seeing the glowplug warning light remain illuminated for some time post start recently - indicating the glowplug cold start system is not operating properly?

If so, try cycling the ignition off and letting the glowplug cycle complete 2 or 3 times before trying to start the car.

Martin.

Thanks, seems to have done the trick!

These engines would normally start without glow plugs, just a bit more of a crank.
I would have an indie look at it, it could well be an air leak in the fuel system, which these engines are prone to, plastic goes hard.

seems you either have more than one plug out or a leak, you dont need plugs to start a diesel, a good old push start usually works,

I suppose it could be the glow plug relay out and no plugs are working ?

I had similar thought re glow plugs. That engine is usually ok w/o.
But as we don't know where the op is I didn't suggest.

Air ingress, especially occurring the 1st time, will get a start with some cranking.

All that assumes good compression.

For me monitoring rail pressure when cranking would be a start. Torque can do that for a few £'s, Euro's or whatever.
Well it's started so he can get it plugged in now, but was the start due to additional cranking?
