Hi,

I have ordered new rear pads for my 2002 ML 270CDi, is there anything I need to know with regards replacing the pad, not done before always sent to indi.
I am sure that the car does not have the SBC brake system as is just the normal one.

Any help appriciated its been 20 years since I last changed pads.
Is it just a case of knocking the pins out, pushing the pistons back, coppler grease on the rear of the pads and fit.

Thanks

Mark

The rear pads in mls do tend to be a bit tight which causes tem to wear pretty quick. There are metal inserts screwed into the calipers where the pads sit which seem to sit away from the alloy calipers, you may need to remove them, clean and refit.

I have done the pads a few times now.

Nock out the pins and open the resovior for the brake fluid.

Push the pistons in. You must give the inner area a good clean, otherwise the pads will be tight and cause sqeeky sounds.

Copper grease the pads and push them in. Pump the brake pedal and re-fit the cap on the resovior. Dont forget about putting the sensors in.

Dont forget to change the sensor wires, if the dash light warning "brake pads" came on they must be replaced, thats if they are fitted to the rears on your car. Not all cars have rear sensors
