Hi, new to this board.....

Just purchased a 2001 ml270 cdi (manual 6 speed) realy cheap with 60k miles on the clock. It had its last benz service at 48k miles and the owner has maintained it since. The service idicator now read two spanner and -3300 on the assyst. The last owner had it serviced by a local garage who claimed they didnt no how to reset the indicator. Now I dont think they changed the oil (I have seen the bill....) can you reset the service indicator with out changing the oil ? I cant re set it by following the manual so ben out a purchased 8 ltrs of Mobile 1 diesel oil and filter from halfords (I think it was £35 for 4 ltrs could not belive it, they should do a Tesco and do buy one get one free !) and going to give it a quick service.

so realy all i want to no is
1) is this the case that if they havent changed the oil i would not beable to rest the assyst ?
2) did they change the oil ant not no how to reset the assyst and now after 3300 miles it cant be done ?
3) or as they new the last owner was selling did they just make a fast buck
4) the assyst has gone tits up ?

thanx

I dont think changing the oil makes any difference as to whether the service indicator can be reset or not.....are you following the reset procedure exactly to the book?

yep

doing all it states in the book. The only other thing i cant get to work is the oil level indicator, the hand book states waight till it shows _ _ _ _ _
in the clock the press button one twice but the dial display never goes to _ _ _ _ _.

thanx
