Set of discs and pads £100.86 (inc vat )
Fitted on a mates ramp...around 45 mins per side.
Very easy !
Wonder what a dealership would have asked ?

Didn't get any new sensors in the box but could do with some as brake warning light is flickering on and off. Took them off very carefully and put them back the same way but once disturbed......:D

Its actually worthwhile getting the new sensors and fitting them, that flickering light will become an annoyance after a while..

Dont waste your money on new sensors, take the old ones out and discard them. The pad wear is easily monitored through the spokes of the wheel on a ML and anyway, the sensor triggers the warning light when you still have approx 2k miles left on the pads.

Don't be a tight wad and get some new sensors ECP have them @ about £4 the pair.

When the lamp comes on change the pads again, keeping the worn pads in service might be false economy, if you need to stop quickly from high speed worn pads may over heat then fade and increase the distance required to stop and you might get hurt along with any other innocent bystanders.

....................who might get flung into the road causing an oncoming bus to swerve and hit a brick wall killing all of the 54 people on board........etc....etc....

Who are ECP ?
I wasn't being tight, the pads just didn't come with them. Secondly, I have no need what so ever for pad warning devices. I check my vehicle weekly during its wash and shine..oil, water, pads, lights, horn. The pads I replaced where down to half but I wasn't happy with the scouring on the discs.

The newer pad sensors work as a loop of wire so must be changed when pads are fitted. What make pads did you fit?

Are your discs scored? If so they must also be changed. The scoring of discs is a well know and very common problem on some ML's with MB discs. They modified the material about 3 years ago now to stop it happening. I used to replace hundreds of them because of scoring.

The sensors on my pads are like a tiny pole which slots in to a hole in the brake pad. It has one strand of wire attached.

Panasonic FYI,

The pad wear system is there for a purpose, I feel that telling folks to deactivate and ignore it is somewhat arrogant and possibly dangerous.

I being one of many motorists who has run down a careless pedestrian can assure you that a 2 inch reduction of stopping distance would have been usefull, in fact 1 inch would have been enough to save lots of emergengy peoples time and reduced the anguish of the poor kids relatives.

Of the very small proportion of motoring incidents caused by vehicle deficiencies (most are caused by the arrogant nut holding the steering wheel) brake and tyre faults figure in the majority of them.

Better brakes make safer cars, even only very slightly better brakes.

wireman FYI,

The pad wear indicator system is there for the purpose of warning the driver that there is approx 25% of pad remaing, it is does not replace proper servicing and maintenance of the braking system at specified intervals, indeed, many cars are not even fitted with the device therefore my suggestion to disconnect it was neither arrogant and certainly not dangerous.......

However, it appears you obviously depend on such a system to warn you of impending pad replacement and that is your right to do so, but for competant owners who are able to monitor, service and repair their own vehicles braking system i am of the belief that such a system is not necessary.

Never owned a vehicle yet where the pad indicator light has come on to point out worn pads. like my tyres, I don't believe in running things down to the limit.
However, got some sensors today from the local motor factors as I don't like the flashing light !!
