Hello all,
I'm the proud new owner of a W-Reg ML 270 CDI Automatic, with 80,000 miles on the clock. The car suffered a sudden power loss a few weeks ago, on holiday in France. There were no strange noises, but it would not exceed about 3,000 rpm in neutral and 60mph on the flat.
As best as I can translate the invoice from the French MB main-dealer who repaired it, the inlet manifold (tubulure d'admission) was removed and replaced, along with parts such as breather tubes (tube d'aspiration). Total cost of repair was 1,300 Euro.
Today, barely three weeks later, it happened again as I accelerated away from a 40mph contraflow on the M25; this time accompanied by a single loud back-fire and a deepening throat in the engine note.
Has anyone had this experience, know what it is, or what to do about it? I'm dreading having to pay another £900 and hoping that work done by one main dealer will be honoured under warranty by another? Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Monu
