Yes the MB stuff is very good and the best, you can buy top up bottles that you dilute to suit your weather conditions where you live

If it was a little down and the car went in for a service,,would this get picked up

Part of the service is to check the antifreeze grade, if in-correct you top it up, i suspect this chap has a leak!!!

Just wondering Sam, is there a good DIY way to check the concentration of the coolant?
Obviously important at this time of year, Hydrometer maybe??

Its the only way, at least when you check it with a hydrometer, you know what temp your system is protected to!!

Hi,

The level has been the same for about six months just below the minmum level. Is there any harm of just pouring the whole coolent bottle in without diluting?

If its only ½ inch below the mark I would leave it,,sure anti freeze does lose its strength over the years and it is normally changed at some point in the service.

You can top it up neat and it will do no harm for the little that you would be putting in

Malcolm,

Thanks for all your help. From all the information you have provided I have managed to change the mirror with ease. There are two problems that I am working on; clicking mirror and condersation in the front passenger head light.
