I have a 2000 ML 270, when taking off from a standing start the traction control light will flash until I exceed 10 MPH. When I am about to come to a complete stop the ABS cut in! Are the 2 problems linked and if so does anyone know what could possibly be causing the problem?
I have replaced the brake light switch, after which the problem went away for a couple of weeks - but it has now returned!
I have also been told the problem could be the steering angle sensor???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be something as simple as low tyre pressure or tyre wear on one wheel which would alter the rolling radious of that wheel compared to the other wheels which would be picked up by the abs/eps sensors and 'mis-read' as a locked or spinning wheel.

Thanks for the replies, I will check the tyre pressures and set the system using the steering lock method. I will keep you posted as to how I get on!

Have checked tyre pressures and reset the system but I still have the same problem! I have noticed that the problem occurs more often on a wet day!!! On some dry days I can drive all day without the problem occuring at all! Is it possible that it could be one of the ABS sensors causing the problem?

I presume your tyres are not worn out and you are not set in low ratio, mine sometimes flashes the orange triangle as a wheel possibly spins but with been a 4 x 4 I dont feel the spin at all.

Yes, i would now be suspecting one of the wheel sensors to be causing the problem.....you could try removing each wheel in turn and cleaning up the face of each sensor.

a shot in the dark. you changed the brake light switch and the fault went away. did you change the brake lamp bulbs? i had a similar fault on a 316 sprinter cdi which was caused by a whiskering brake bulb!

No I didn't change the brake light bulbs, I checked them and found them to be working and so assumed they were fine. Haven't had time yet to remove the wheels and clean the sensors - hope to get around to doing them this week!!
