Hi, I am new to this and need some help and advice. I use my ML off road alot in connection with my work. I am running on 275/55/17 UHP Grabbers about the best tyres I have found for grip in this size. Today I was told by someone that they have seen 265/70/17 on an ML the same year(2000) That would be grate for me I could then use BF Goodrich. Otherwise I will have to source a set of 16" wheels and then fit BF Goodrich. Can anybody HELP?

I'd be very careful re guard clearance. That is a major increase in overall tyre diameter and will probably foul on full lock when the suspension compresses. You will change your overall gearing quite substantially too - around 9 to 10% higher. That is enough to compromise the performance of your vehicle.

Thank you for the advice. I have done the research in finding the tyres. I need to find someone who is already using 265/70/17

I appreciate all that you say. Performance is not an issue as I bearly get above 40 mph. I am looking for someone who has used or is using the 265/70/17 combination.

Wheel size - ML 270 cdi

Does anybody know if the 17" wheels will fit a 2001 model which has the 16" wheels? Through work, I am on rough roads at times and find the ground clearance quite poor compared to my previous Land Cruiser so I can either fit a higher side wall tyre or better still 17" wheels with max height tyre. Performance drop is not an issue for me.

Regards and thanks

Bill
