Hi all,
Was wondering if any one has suffered the same problem?
I have just recently purchased a 1999 ML 320 full MB service history,
I noticed that the illumination bulb to the heater panel had blown! as most would assume new bulb job done, oh no this is not the case i appears the heater control cluster is sealed and the bulb can not be changed.
New replacement part from MB is in the region of £250.00 Incl Vat & Labour
Any sane suggestions considered!!!!

Its simple, but damned if I can remember. Changed mine 9 months ago, as television shows, a single bulb needed and as far as I remember its using clear plastic to guide the light to the dials. Will try to remember and post more.

ML 320 Heater Cluster

Thanks Guys,
Your information is very helpful, looking at the thread posted by myself i think i may not have made myself all that clear; i am being told by both a MB main dealer and an independent MB specialist that the heater cluster is a sealed unit and the bulb in question can not be changed!!!!
I see from the diagram that Malcolm attached suggests that it can (i thank you Malcolm)
Just a little more confused now i will do some more research
Kind Regards
Rick:rolleyes:

Just checked, simple! Pull off, using nails at both sides (your hands nails!!!) the centre dial which controls the warm/cold setting. Then take tweezers and gently ease out the bulb, insert new one same way.

For other bulbs, you have to gently ease off the whole wood fascia, careful not to pull too far forward as you will damage the heater control cables, and you can access from behind.

But from what you said, the bulb blown is the one behind the middle control dial!

Hope this helps.
