ML 500 Transmission dipsticks

Hi all
I'm going to be changing the transmission fluid on my W163 2002 ML 500 and wondered if anyone else had done it. If so did you replace the OE dipstick with a full length one to measure the level. I have seen three different lengths on a well known auction site all claiming to be the correct one ranging from 920 mm to 1220mm. Any advice appreciated.

The one I purchased for my CL500 is 1220,

The dip stick is placed in the tube until it bottoms out this gives you your reading the stick has 25 C and 85 C markings on it, see following vid.

ps the flexi dip stick is about a foot too long to go all the way to the handle !!!
