I have got a couple of faults with my command in my ML.I have only just got the car and am guessing that the command is a retrofit as its a 1999 model???? but the faults are

1-it keeps saying there is no nav cd in but there is?
2-it says no cd changer but there is?

and another unrelated fault is the heater panel wont illuminate

All suggestions greatfully received:neutral:as i am a newbie to mercedes
Paul;)

Get a CD cleaning disc and let that play to see if it will clean the laser pick up

If the sound is breaking up, it could be miss tracking, then still the pick up head, I hope that a clean fixes it.

If the FM is ok that that really confirms it for 80% of the faults

The TV was not an option on the ML, though you could fit an after market digi box if you wanted to. the car would also need to be pre wired for the phone to work, is there a phone in the car

As these things are always live on the wake up circuit, you could pull the Comand fuse for 5 mins and see if the comand finds the changer

Cant answer that of hand, but Comand's are not coded.

You should have a fuse chart in with the tools, or tucked in one of the fuse boxes.

When it says No CD it normally means that the pick up is dirty, CD not fitted could be a fiber optic lead maybe not plugged in

I wonder if when the phone was taken out they have left the ring open, that would make sense

Yes if the car had a phone then they may have left the fiber optic cables unplugged, they are bright orange,if this is the case then you need a joiner to complete the circuit

There are often 2 fuses,, I still think that the fiber optic ring has not been plugged together
