ML Key fob problems

Can anyone help with this, my ML430 key fob keeps loosing its memory and I end up being stuck and cannot gain entry to the car. any suggestions of what to look for and is there a way of getting into the car if the remote fails

I would clean the battery connections first

Probably worth renewing the fob battery as it's such a cheap item........In the event of fob failure you can, of course, gain entry by using the fob key in the door lock and then silencing the alarm by immediately inserting the key into the ignition and starting the engine.

Thanks for this I will get some new batteries and also clean the contacts. I have only had the car a few months and the seller said it was a new fob he had bought but i am begining to think it may have been secondhand

Just to mention that (and if my memory serves me right) after renewing the battery you may have to re-syncronize the fob to the car, the procedure is in the handbook. (This only affects the central locking and NOT the starting of the engine)
