Just done all this several times on my 2004 W163 270 cdi and yet I can't get rid of the spanners and the -500 sign. It bleeps but info remains.
'1 Turn electronic key in the steering lock position 2

2 Within 4 seconds, press button "O" twice

3 Note! The present status for days or distance is displayed.

Within 10 seconds, turn electronic key in steering lock to position 0

4 Press and hold down "O", while turning electronic key in steering lock to position 2. The present status for days or distances is displayed once more. Keep holding down button"O"

Note! After approx. 12 seconds a signal beep sounds and the display will show 10,000 miles or 15 000 km for other countries

5 Release button "O"'

Am I missing something ?

Hi,

I had a similar problem. What I did was tried it three times and it still didn't work on my ML270. It finally cleared when instead of just putting the ignition to position 2, I actually turned the engine over and then followed the procedure.

So I am not actually sure what did it, whether it was trying for the four time or turning the ingition switch fully round.

4th time and it cleared and went to something like 13,000 miles.
