- 2003 ML270 sold but not forgotten. 2022 Kia EV6 GT Line RWD
Having passed my 2003 ML to my daughter recently, she has experienced a lack of drive when selecting a gear. A couple of restarts and seemed to drive OK again. Surmising that there was a temporary blockage somewhere in the valve body, had the pan dropped and everything serviced. Found a smattering of brass particles in bottom of pan......presumaby some of this caused the temp blockage. After service - new oil and filter etc, everything is operating seemingly perfectly. No apparent slippage or incorrect gear changes.
Can anyone give me an idea where these particles may have come from and if I should expect further troubles from that source? Gearbox was serviced at 80K (kilos) and has now done 190K. Vehicle was a caravan tug for many of its kilometres. It has had an oil cooler fitted since the 80K service as oil was black. Oil this time was dark and smelled, according to my service man, like baby vomit (lovely!!)Any wise men out there?
Cheers
Ian.
