ML270 engine cut out & won't restart

Hi my ML270 engine cut out & won't restart
I was driving along steady about 30 mph the engine stopped & I coasted to a halt the engine warning light was on and still is on think it was the EPS but I could be wrong its the one half way across the dash it definitely the engine related warning light, had to trailer the motor to a good friend that fixed my auto box. The motor will start for a couple of second only, tried it with out the maf, looked for air in the injection system, fuel leaks,
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hi dont know as yet but will get to know more as the day goes on,

I haven't got a code reader but its not for the want of trying though as there a too many to chose from and so many conflicting reports on these things.

the motor is with someone that I can trust so I will ring him at dinner

Thanks malc I carry cps on the motor but as it would fire up for a coulple of seconds I thought it wouldn't be that

I need to carry tooling to remove it as well

Leading up to this would be
(About 6 months of this) hard acceleration (two gears kick down) light would come on & motor would slow up till you backed of with accelerator then it would pick up.
Moderate acceleration one gear kick down motor was ok, till you give it that little bit extra then same as above.

Once crushing 80 mph touch brake & ABS/ESP light come on cruse wouldn't re-engage till I stopped and did a re-start then everything was ok
Once did a u-turn mounted a low curb but slowly got the ABS/ESP light did a re-start then everything was ok

Hi fault codes have been cleared and the ones that matered were relating to No3 injector not working, but the motor strated and ran for a short journey (test drive) then the engine cut out again.
So were going to try a second hand injector (catagory 1 our catagory 2) need to tell ecu about which cat I think he said mine were cat 2, try and eliminate this injector.
Also the wireing to the injectors are post black death and a bit brittle so this could be the problem if its not the injector.

would a leak off check show a intermitent electrical fault in the injector we spoke about the leak off check, this might have been done. we seem to think it could be relating to electrical brake down in the injector due to temperature

Hi motor is sorted with a second hand no3 injector (cat 2) same cat as the one that went down, (you can see the number of the catagory on the top of the injector)
Just something interesting motor was test driven before it was changed and it failed but he had a replacement injector that he plugged in to the no 3 electric connectors and left the injector on the top of the engine so he could drive the motor back to his garage.
Anyway that a good second hand injector re-seated for £110.00 diagnosis was free due to me putting some work is way.
Well suited with this I’ll be going back top him (top man)
