Afternoon all
I’ve a old 2001 ml270 brabus d4 - had it from nearly new -
Got a start error
I have the safari sun roof
It’s leaking - rhd truck
I’ve took the large black module-box out from under drivers steering wheel area - all looks ok - not wet - bought a immobilzer ring for around the key and still got start error

Ive read starter motor to test ?
Fuel pump to test ?

But thought I would post up first

I did plug it in last autumn and from memory was no communication from something

Lastly I’m in the U.K.
how should the red led blink/ flask in the dash when using the key to start ?

I’ve also replaced the battery in key

I want to keep the truck as it’s a good tow horse and I’ve rebuilt the auto around 10k miles ago

No point fixing to sell or scrapping

Happy to fix and run into the ground for a few years

197k miles

Cheers all

In my experience crank sensors allow a start or don't.. at times they fail warm and not cold. Or other way around. I don't have experience of crank sensor stopping a running motor, but some of not allowing an ignition off restart. Say a machine shut down normally, say for lunch. That fails to restart after lunch.
They are often set to see a certain rpm from a good start attempt that triggers ecm to open fuel, allowing motor to run
A low batt, cranking rpm may not be recognised as a start attempt . This would in. My experience throw a related fault code

Thanks for the reply
Doubt it’s that then
It was running fine - hot etc - then start error displaying- key on and off a few times and it started but then it just wouldn’t start
I had it start a few times if you try the key a lot of times
Any pointers to look for ?
Cheers Shaun

Try getting a fuel press reading. At cranking, idle speed.

But DO you have any fuel pressure? No fuel. No start
I pretty sure if crank sensor faulty it will generate a fault code to that effect if ur looking live date u prob see fuel press as well.
